Growing up I remember everyone using the word "retard". I don't hear it as much now. And, I certainly try never to say it.
I replaced it with "goober" a long time ago! Ha!
it's pretty amazing how quickly people drop "that's so retarded" without even a thought. i can only imagine how sensitive i would be to people saying this offhandedly if my child had special needs.
